Fenced In

July 23, 2008
It feels so great to have our privacy back! I think the fence turned out great and even though I'd like to be the girl who says she installed a fence all by herself, I am quite content that it was erected in 2 days (not counting the days it took for the posts to set).

Random Update

July 20, 2008

While purchasing the final fixture for our new bathroom (TP holder), I found these striped towels. I thought it would add a much needed burst of color in the room. What do you think?

After 8 hours of organizing the basement and garage, I could barely see out of my dirty glasses so I gave them a good cleaning. I guess I rubbed too hard! Because my readership is as visually impaired as I am, I knew they would appreciate the challenges this creates for me. I do have an old pair of glasses but the prescription is way off and it is almost like I have bifocals because my eyes have to work hard to adjust from looking close up to looking far away. I hope our flex spending plan starts soon!

Don't know what ya got 'til it's gone...

During one of the many thunderstorms experienced in the Twin Cities, we found our fence looking a little sad.

We tried to fix this fence many times in the last few years. The fence is deceptive in appearance- if you are close up you'll see the wood is fastened together by staples!

Again, the fence looks great. But it had seen better days so we called Midwest Fence to replace it.

Day 1: Tuesday, July 15

Fence gone. New posts in place. It is weird to be able to have a view of the street and the alley from the backyard now.

So Close!

Days 50 - 62 : June 17 - July 3, 2008
I have been absent from 5801greenhouse for far too long. I think the changes have been so minimal that it was not as pressing to capture a photo everyday. Or at least that is my excuse.

The laundry area will be partially finished until we are able to save up enough money to hire Aaron to frame and drywall the ceilings and walls. I plan on adding marmoleum to the floor when the budget allows.

The entrance to the bathroom is kind of a bummer since once you cross the threshold it is so nice. Someday it will be complete!

The mirror is a great example of when I had to keep things in check for budget. I wanted a $250 mirror but decided the $50 Home Depot mirror would be just fine. I figure the white wood trim ties the whole look together. The light fixture is also a budget item - sorry Rejuvenation.

Kohler Memoirs Classic 4" Center faucet. This photo makes the vanity top look pink but I promise it is white.

I like the combination towel bar and hook outside the shower. The showerhead is also Kohler Memoirs Classic.

Our toilet is a Consumer Best Buy! Another place I think one should save in their budget. The Kohler Memoirs Classic would have been at least $200 more.

I am trying to decide if I should add hardware to the cabinets. This is one of my favorite features of the bathroom- probably because it is custom and Aaron did a great job.
